Ok knitters, we have had this going for less than a week and already over $400 from less than 20 people. I am shocked, and so grateful to you all. Thank you to all who have helped, it's already gone better than I expected, but now thats it's gone so well, I want to raise even more. Check below and see I have upped the stakes even higher with more prizes to be drawn at the end of this fundraiser. Imagine if everyone (over 3000 so far) who has looked at the blog here, donated just a dollar. Many of these people have not wanted anything but to help. How great is that. Elspeth had a great idea, one which I hope you all can help me with. How about some corporate sponsors to match our donation? Any ideas on one for me to contact? I am checking out a few companies in our area. Is there anyone else out there who might be willing to match? Contact me if so and I can put you in touch with the ASA people regarding tax info and such. They are a 501-3c non profit so you can use your donation as a tax write-off.
On to the prize front. I also have (or will have in my hands very soon) the new bag pattern by Black Sheep Bags. I will kit it up for one more prize. I will also be throwing in the prize bag 1 kit for this sweater, the Laurel Fibonacci Stripe, by Schaefer yarn company.
Rarely outside of Nascar(ie: Jamie McMurray #42 or one of the Sadlers), do I see fundraisers for ASA. We need money to help fund research, and for parent, communtiy education. When I was pregnant and getting ready to deliver I never though about autism. I knew nothing, didn't know anyone diagnoised, and what I knew was misinformed (ie: House of Cards or better yet Rainman). That all changed when my son was diagnoised. Imagine going to the dr. and being told your child is autistic. Now, imagine having no place to call for help, or for information on what to do to help your socially troubled child function, communicate, live. Thats what ASA is there for.
Now don't get me wrong, I am the most blessed of all mothers, my son loves me unconditionally, and he says so everyday. Just yesterday, I was told, When i get bigger and you get smaller (this is him talking) I can rock you like you did me when I was a baby. Who could ask for more. Now I wanna give back. Help so that one day, no mother will have to go through what we had to, to get to this point.

I'm sorry I missed the official drive, but I just got the paperwork for my husband's company matching and I'll do my donation through the society directly so they can get our donation and theirs! What a great idea! I'll check back in awhile for new patterns!
